SUMMER UNCORKED

Wonderful wines and perfect pairings for seasonal dining

We love a good summer wine. Refreshing, unpretentious and full of vibrancy that pairs well with other summer delights like seafood, stone fruits and berries. Here are a few of the wines selected by Terranea Resort’s wine experts, plus delicious suggestions for dishes that beautifully complement each pour.

2. 2012 Poet’s Leap Riesling, Columbia Valley, WA

Pair with: lobster on toast, saffron aioli, Palicios chorizo and red mustard, served at mar’sel

This impressive Washington Riesling seems drier on the nose than it is, with its limeade and passion fruit aromas. It’s actually slightly heavier and richer than that, the fleshy flavors suggesting a pairing with spicy food.

3. 2014 ONEHOPE Sauvignon Blanc “Rutherford Estate,” Napa Valley, CA

Pair with: chimichurri grilled octopus, cauliflower garlic aioli and cannellini bean salad, served at catalina kitchen

This 2014 Sauvignon Blanc represents one of the very first wines from the ONEHOPE vineyard located in the heart of Napa Valley. Intense aromas of white peach and green apple, complemented by citrus zest and finished with hints of guava and papaya.

4. 2014 Villa Oneiro Chardonnay, Rolling Hills, CA

Pair with: flatbread of the day, served at the Lobby Bar

This local wine possesses a good intensity of aromas including white peach, golden apple, tangerine blossom, and a solid lemon core that is accented with wet stone-like minerality. The wine is finished with toasted brioche and lily flower notes. What begins modestly finishes with layers of toasted almonds and pear with a good balance of acidity.
