TEEN DREAM

The Y’s “Get Summer” supports South Bay teens

“Get Summer” is an initiative launched by the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles (LA Y) in which all 26 branches of the LA Y, including the Torrance-South Bay Y, will offer all teens a FREE Y membership through the end of July. The LA Y anticipates welcoming more than 5,000 teens through its doors as a result of “Get Summer.”

Designed to keep teens active and engaged in a safe, community environment, “Get Summer” will provide youth with amazing opportunities for leadership development, academic support, college and employment readiness, life skills education and healthy fun. Through partnerships with the City of Los Angeles and County of Los Angeles, youth will be matched and trained to be hired for part-time job opportunities at the LA Y. LAUSD will also deliver free meals for all kids and teens at LA Y locations within its service areas.

In addition to offering free teen memberships and employment readiness, individual branches will offer other exclusive programming with local partners. On Saturday August 27th, the Torrance-South Bay Y will hold a Teen Night after hours from 8 to 11 p.m. where teens can come and enjoy a fun night filled with a variety of fun activities. But the fun doesn’t end with summer! Teens can also find out about additional teen programming in partnership with Terranea Resort.
