For the eighth consecutive year, Terranea Resort is proud to continue their annual participation in Make March Matter for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). This annual campaign rallies the local community together to bring awareness to the health care needs of children. The goal each year is to raise $1 million in March to support programs and services at CHLA that create hope and build healthier futures—for children like Genesis, who was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. At Genesis’ 6-month-old checkup, her pediatrician detected a heart murmur and referred her to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. There, doctors found she suffered from cardiomyopathy, which causes the heart to enlarge and lose its ability to pump blood out to the body. The only cure was a heart transplant.
It has been 18 months since her transplant surgery, and with her new heart functioning well, Genesis, now 2, is moving forward in life. Doctors say that the further she gets from her surgery without complications, the more optimistic the outlook becomes. (Click here to read more about Genesis.)
